Curated Spaces - Layout + Lighting & Electrical — Terms and Conditions

The intention of these Terms and Conditions is to bring clarity to our working relationship, protect both parties, and take care of the business side so that we can focus on creating a home you love. Please let me know if anything is unclear or doesn't align with your understanding of the service.

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions apply to all Curated Spaces + Lighting & Electrical Services provided by Studio Smith Interiors LTD, registered in England and Wales (Company No. 14747998). By purchasing this service, you agree to comply with and be bound by these terms.

This agreement is made as of date signed with client and Studio Smith Interiors LTD (hereinafter "The Designer")

2. Scope of Services

Curated Spaces + Lighting & Electrical is a personalised interior layout, space planning, and lighting & electrical placement service designed to improve the flow, function, and usability of your home. Services include virtual or in-person consultations, customised layout plans, and a lighting and electrical plan built around your finished layout. Kitchen layouts cover major appliance placement only.

The lighting and electrical element covers placement planning only. This includes the positioning of lighting, sockets, switches, and electrical points within your space. It does not include product specification, brand recommendations, or procurement, where we will specify fitting types such as directional spotlights, pendants or semi flush fittings, rather than exact products or brands. All electrical work must be carried out by a qualified and registered electrician.

Curated Spaces + Lighting & Electrical is not a substitute for architectural, structural, or planning services. All drawings and plans must be reviewed and approved by relevant professionals, including a qualified electrician, before construction or installation begins. Studio Smith Interiors Ltd is not responsible for build feasibility, planning approval, construction outcomes, contractor interpretation, or the interpretation or execution of plans by trades.

3. Service Delivery and Timeline

The design process begins once we've held a detailed consultation and received all required information (e.g. photos, measurements, drawings). Typical delivery time for the layout is 2-3 weeks, depending on project scope. One round of revisions is included and must be requested within 14 days of receiving the initial layout or on date agreed.

Once your layout is finalised, the lighting and electrical brief is built from your final layout and a short lighting and electrical questionnaire. Within three weeks of this brief, you'll receive your lighting and electrical plans along with a Loom video talking you through the thinking behind the design. You'll then have time to review, mark up and share your comments. We'll refine the plan, addressing your feedback, and the final plan follows within two weeks of receiving it.

Our combined Curated Spaces + Lighting & Electrical process is a 14 week minimum process from kick-off to final delivery. Where a priority turnaround is required, this is subject to an uplift, full details of which are provided on request.

A deposit of 50% of the total project fee is payable upon signing this agreement to secure your project slot. The remaining 50% balance is due no later than 2 days prior to the agreed project start date. Please note that work cannot commence until the final balance has been received in full.

4. Revisions

One round of revisions is included for the layout stage, and one round of revisions is included for the lighting and electrical stage, each to be submitted as a single, consolidated response within 14 days of receiving the relevant design (or date agreed). Additional revisions to either stage are charged as follows: £349 per revised layout and scaled at £10 inc VAT per sqm, with the area we are re-drawing, and additional calls are £449 inc VAT. Major changes to the original brief, such as removal of rooms or multiple revision rounds, will be treated as additional services and charged separately.

4.1 Change of Brief

A revision is defined as the refinement of the agreed layout or lighting and electrical plan based on the original brief, outlined in your kick-off form or lighting and electrical questionnaire. Where the Client requests a change of use of a space, introduces new requirements, or alters previously agreed priorities (for example, changing the function of a room or requesting new design directions), this will be considered a change of brief rather than a revision.

Changes of brief fall outside of the included revision rounds and may require additional fees or a new scope of work. Studio Smith Interiors Ltd reserves the right to decline or re-quote such requests.

5. Client Responsibilities

You agree to provide accurate and timely information, including photos, drawings, measurements and feedback. All requested information must be uploaded to your Google Drive no later than 7 days before the kick-off call. If this is not met, we reserve the right to rearrange the call to allow time to review the documents.

You are responsible for the accuracy of all measurements supplied. Studio Smith Interiors Ltd is not liable for issues arising from inaccurate or incomplete dimensions.

If no communication or requested information is provided for more than 3 weeks, or if 3 or more emails are ignored during the project, the project will be paused. A reactivation fee of £299 inc VAT will then apply to reinstate studio time and restart the project.

6. Payments & Refunds

Full payment is required before design work begins. Payments are processed securely via Stripe. Due to the bespoke nature of design work, no refunds are available once design work has commenced. Our cancellation period is a minimum of 3 weeks prior to your kick-off date. If you cancel before any design work has begun, a refund may be issued minus a 15% administration fee.

7. Intellectual Property

All design materials (including layouts, floorplans, plans, drawings, videos, Loom walkthroughs, proposals, and documentation) remain the intellectual property of Studio Smith Interiors Ltd. You are granted a non-exclusive licence to use these materials for your own personal home project only. Resale, reproduction, redistribution, third-party sharing, digital transfer, social media distribution, or commercial use is not permitted without prior written consent.

8. Copyright Enforcement

Studio Smith Interiors Ltd reserves the right to take action or seek compensation if design work is copied, commercially reused, shared with third parties outside your personal project, or used in a way that violates intellectual property rights. This includes unauthorised replication by trades, architects, interior designers, builders, developers, or commercial partners.

9. Limitation of Liability

All design drawings and lighting and electrical plans must be reviewed and approved by relevant professionals, including a qualified electrician, before construction or installation begins. Studio Smith Interiors Ltd accepts no liability for structural feasibility, contractor interpretation, construction errors, workmanship issues, wiring decisions, compliance with building regulations, product suitability, material performance, additional build costs, unforeseen conditions, deviations from plan, or delays caused by third parties. Plans are a design intent document only and work must not commence based solely on design drawings without appropriate professional verification.

10. Studio Communication Hours

Studio Smith Interiors Ltd operates Monday to Friday during normal business hours. Emails and project communication may take up to 48-72 hours during a busy period. As all work is carried out remotely, Studio Smith Interiors Ltd is not liable for delays caused by unavailable information, late notice, or contractor timelines.

11. Confidentiality & Marketing

All personal and project information remains confidential. Studio Smith Interiors Ltd may use anonymised drawings or screenshots for marketing, training, or educational purposes unless you request otherwise in writing. Photographs of your finished project will only be shared with your written permission.

12. Termination

Studio Smith Interiors Ltd may terminate services if the client fails to communicate, provide necessary information, or breaches this Agreement. You may terminate at any time; however, fees are non-refundable once design work has commenced.

13. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall within the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
